Years Of Education Beyond:

Years Of Education Beyond The two books bring together tutors whose specialisms cover primary, special and early years of education beyond education. Apart from the publications by the Goldsmiths' team (for example, Blenkin and Kelly 1992), until recently there have been relatively few books which attempted to provide such an inclusive view of thinking about the education of children aged up to eight years of education beyond and the three sectors (under-fives, five to 11 and special education) have had more or less separate networks and knowledge/research bases.

Education in Chile is compulsory for all children between the ages of 7 and 15. The structure of the educational system underwent considerable change following a study by a national planning commission. Under the new plan, which went into effect in 1966, the basic cycle of general education, which was formerly 6 years of education beyond, was extended to 8 years of education beyond with the intent to extend it to 9 years of education beyond when circumstances should permit. The secondary cycle was divided into two types: (1) scientific-humanistic, to be completed in 3 years of education beyond when the basic general cycle of 9 years of education beyond is in full operation; and (2) technical-vocational to be completed in 2 or 3 years of education beyond. Formerly the secondary cycle consisted of 6 years of education beyond of academic studies or a technical-vocational program of 6 or 7 years of education beyond. University courses range in length from 2 to 7 years of education beyond, according to the profession studied.

Primary Schools. In England the act of 1870 laid the groundwork for a system of universal education, but it provided for instruction only of children less than 13 years of education beyond of age. Attendance did not become compulsory until 1880, and though free education was given in most elementary schools after 1891, fee paying was not completely abolished until 1918. The act that forbade fees also made education to the age of 14 compulsory.
