FIRST MEASURE your backyard and transfer your measurements to a sketch.
• Measure all the major distances in your backyard. It makes it much easier if you take a fixed point, such as the corner of your house, and measure everything you can from there.
Now make a scale plan so you have a realistic plan of the yard as it is.
• The most useful scale to work to is 'A or Vs in to 1ft, depending on how big your garden is and the size of paper. Work on squared or graph paper.
Once you have a scale plan, you can draw up your ideas.
• Mark everything about your new design on your plan so you can carry the scheme out with accuracy and confidence. |
