residential house Design 2006 will take place during April 5-6, 2006 in Seaport World Trade Center.
The inaugural edition of residential house Design was a tremendous success.
Over 7,500 guests registered for the first-year show - 53% higher than expected.
The event featured a sold-out Keynote Address by Sarah Susanka FAIA, a tradeshow, an 'Open House' reception for the general public and 'A Celebration of 50 Years of Record Houses' with Robert Ivy FAIA. The tradeshow Floor was limited to 200+ exhibits to provide an intimate experience for attendees.
residential house hotels are primarily an American development, comparatively unknown in other countries. They are basically apartment buildings offering many hotel facilities, including maid service, dining room, meal service in rooms, and possibly a cocktail lounge. Some residential house hotels are for women only. By the beginning of the 1970's, a number of residential house and apartment hotels were going into cooperative tenant ownership. Outstanding residential house hotels are New York City's Pierre and Sherry-Nether-land, both of which also offer transient rooms.
residential house areas are dispersed throughout the greater Haifa area. Most of the Arabs live in the oldest sector, west of the central city. The Jewish quarter of Hadar ha-Camiel, established in 1920, has expanded over the slopes of Mt. Carmel, linking with the residential house buildings on the crest of the peak. Farther east are the residential house suburbs of Neve Shannon and Qiryat Remex and the large campus of Technion (the Israel Institute of Technology). |
