International Child Development Resource Centre: In Paris in November 1967 the UN Economic and Social Council convened a meeting of its Advisory Committee on the Application of Science and Technology to Development. The topic of science education was one of the principal items on the agenda, and a number of challenging projects were considered. The Centre for Curriculum Renewal and Educational Development Overseas, headquartered in London, has also begun to help developing countries with programs of educational innovation. The Centre provides relevant knowledge and experience to those groups desiring assistance with the planning of science curriculum programs, as does the international child development resource centre Clearinghouse at the University of Maryland.

As a result of this meeting, in which 91 nations participated, Pres. Lyndon B. Johnson pledged U.S. support to set up a network of resource centers where experts from many nations could attack mutual water problems.
