For about the last 15 years, a rapidly accelerating program of research in the medical sciences had accumulated a tremendous volume of new knowledge. The results of this research, however, were available to only a small number of developed medical centers. In order to achieve more rapid application of medical advances and to broaden their distribution, the Regional Medical Centers Act contained five main features, with emphasis on the treatment of heart disease, cancer, and strokes: (1) the coordination of medical activities in regions near medical schools; (2) the development of programs for continuing the education of physicians who were already established in their practice;
Camping is widely organized under Govern mental medicalmental, voluntary, and commercial auspices. The American Camping Association has an individual membership of over 3,500 most of whom are camp directors. Attendance at various types of summer camps probably is between 3,000,000 and 5,000,000. Day camps have been developed in most urban communities. |
