Excell Education And Traveled OSCAH G. BROCKETT, Indiana Univer,GUIRALDES, gwe-ral'das, Ricardo (1886-192 Argentine author. He was born in Buenos A: on Feb. 13, 1886. Guiraldes had an excell education and traveled extensively, particuh to France. However, he never lost contact w his native soil, especially his father's ranch, Portena," in San Antonio de Areco, from wh he drew the gaucho prototype for his masl piece, the novel Don Segundo Sombra. GiiiraL died in Paris on Oct. 8, 1927.

ROHLFS, Friedrich Gerhard, German e plorer: b. Vegesack, Germany, April 14, 183 d. Godesberg, Prussia, June 2, 1896. He was educated at Heidelberg and Gottingen and in 1855-60 served as a surgeon in the French army at Algiers. He traveled through Morocco in 1860, and in 1862 explored the Tafilet Oasis. He crossed Africa from Tripoli to Lagos during 1865-66, joined the English expedition to Ethiopia in 1867, and in 1868 traveled in Cyrenaica. He conducted an expedition through the Libyan Desert in 1873-74, traveled in North America in 1875-76, and in 1878 again visited Africa, penetrating to the Kufra Oasis. He traveled in Ethiopia in 1880, and in 1884-85 acted as German consul at Zanzibar. He wrote Journey through Morocco (1869) ; Across Africa (1874-75) ; My Mission to Abyssinia (1883) ; What News from Africa (1887).


About 70 colleges and universities offer programs to train health education teachers, and the profession is growing. Members of the profession feel strongly that health education should not be considered a part of physical education and that physical education should not be a branch of health education. Some high schools now give a half year to physical education and a half year to health instruction.
