Environ Mental Quality: In the case of most mental disorders as well, the causes are complex and uncertain. One obtains a variety of clinical pictures in any type of chiJdhood psychosis. The interaction between hereditary and environ mental qualitymental influences is diverse and devious. An important part is played by ccmstitutionaV tactois suc as unusual sensitivity and functional disturbances during the process of maturing. Moreover, a disturbed mother-child relationship is almost always involved.
The effects of this degradation of environ mental qualitymental quality resulted in part, and their control was made more urgent, by mounting populations. During 1967 and the first three months of 1968, the world population was swelled by nearly 80 million people, and the population of the U.S. increased from 198.1 million to 200.6 million. The individual's share of resources in the U.S. was diluted by 5,500 more people each day, while, judging from growth in disposable income, each individual could demand a somewhat larger amount of goods and services than he had the day before.
Official agencies are those supported by tax moneys. These agencies exist at the national, state, and local levels. The National Institute of Health, the Consumer Protection and environ mental qualitymental Health Service, and Health Services and Mental Health Administration are all part of the U. S. Public Health Service. This national agency is part of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. |
