Among the city's libraries are the Rochester Public Library, whose main branch is in the Rundel Memorial Building; the Reynolds Reference Library; and the book and manuscript collections of the Rochester Historical Society. There is an art gallery in the Rundel Memorial Building. The University of Rochester has several collections. In the Rochester Historical Society Museum are data relating to the history of the city and Genesee County. The Rochester Museum of Arts and Sciences (1942) houses an extensive collection of historical, archaeological, and geological material, as well as valuable data on the American Indian. In addition to the concerts and music festivals of the Eastman School of Music, there are concerts presented by the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the Rochester Civic Orchestra, and plays are given in the Eastman School. |
