Ducal House Of: Unlike the castle, the manor house looks comfortable and is comfortable. Italian palaces, such as the Palazzo Vecchio, Florence, also had an interior court, but were forbidding in appearance. The Ducal Palace, Venice, however, has open arcades on the ground level and on the second floor.
GUISE, gez, a branch of the ducal house of Lc raine that rose to great prominence in 16th ce tury politics in France. The name is derivi from the town of Guise in northern Franc which was the historical capital of the Thieracl district and is now in the department of Aisn Claude de Lorraine. The founder of the hon of Guise was Claude de Lorraine (1496-1550 second son of Rene II, Duke of Lorraine, I Philippa de Gheldre.

In these houses the t ditional plan is modified. The peristilia (cole naded courtyards), the gardens, reception haj and other rooms were oriented toward the sot in order to take advantage of the view towa the sea. |
